HEAVY RAIN Game Demo
How far would you wow gold go for love? A sneak peak at Rain. style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;">
This is one of those games that everyone seems to be interested in, yet no one wow gold really knows how to explain the game itself. After going to a preview event hosted at one of the GameStops in our area, and after downloading the demo, we only have one thing to say about this game: wow. And now to elaborate on that in 800 words or less.
At the event we got to play with two of the main characters: a father (Ethan Mars), and a detective (Scott Shelby). In the demo that was released days ago on the PSN, Ethan's story was not a part of it -- which is good because his story kicks off the entire game. The demo jumps right to Scott as he investigates the "Origami Killer," then moves onto an FBI agent, Norman Jayden. The story switches from one character to the next as they go through their everyday lives. Some are more invested with the murder case, like Scott and Norman, but we're not quite sure how Ethan is involved yet.
Speaking of Ethan, we not going to say much about him because that would just spoil things, and this is one of those games that you really don want spoilers for. wow items Just know that it a great start to the game. It lets you get use to the controls -- which are very unique -- and we spent quite a bit of time just exploring his house and interacting with his family. The story then switches to Scott, who is trying to get information from a prostitute whose son was killed by the Killer. This is where we stopped playing at the preview event, but the demo lets players move on with Norman as he investigates a crime scene where the Origami Killer has struck again.
So buy wow gear what so about that?
Remember that part in when he touching everything because it all looks so pretty and shiny? That explains our first hour into Rain. Not only do the characters look real with their stubble and scars, but the environments are incredibly detailed. The best part is that you get to interact with everything around you. Wanna do some sword fighting with foam swords in the backyard with your kids? Hell yes you do! Wanna do laundry afterwards? Eh not really, how about we toss around a paper airplane in the living room instead then grab a beer.
All right, wow gold so how is the gameplay?
We're going to warn you that it takes some getting use to. In fact, the difficulty level is based on how well you think you can handle the controller. It like riding a bike for the first time after 10 or 20 years: you know what to do, but you not quite sure if you doing it right so you have to take it slow. That what Ethan story does. It a subtle tutorial of sorts because you learning what to do while being fascinated at the fact that if you push down on the analog stick too fast, you can cut yourself while shaving. Decisions and thoughts pop up above your head as you're playing and effects what happens around you, from huge plot points like asking questions at a crime scene, to small details like deciding if you should warm up pizza or something healthier for your children. The game does pick up the pace, the best example being the fight scene with Scott and the prostitute angry client. The buttons quickly pop up one after another for each punch, shove, dodge, beer bottle smash, head ramming into the refrigerator it intense, to say the least.
In conclusion?
There is nothing quite like Rain out there. Going in, we were worried that it wouldn live up to all of the trailers or that the controls wow items would piss us off. We hate to give into the hype after a demo, but it really is amazing. However, we also feel that not everyone will enjoy it. Not everyone wants to waste time in their house setting up for birthday parties or listening to music, but Rain is as much about the murder mystery as it is about the everyday lives of the characters as they face difficult situations, and that what makes it so interesting to play.
I'll picking this game up for sure! I was excited about it just reading about and playing a demo of the game only made me even more excited. The game itself kind of reminds me of a game that came out on the PC years ago called, "In The wow gold First Degree". It's similar to me in the way when playing the demo as the private eye, you interview the prostitute and have to make choices on certain questions you want to ask her and based on those questions determines how much information you will get out of her and "In The First Degree" was based on that type of gameplay. However, Heavy Rain incorporated that concept and much more. The part of the demo with the FBI agent and looking for clues was very fun for me as I like puzzles, and the developer putting you in the shoes of characters trying to figure out who the Origami Killer is definitely a different gaming experience, and one that I can't wait to get into detective mode. Hopefully, more games like this come along. And with the added DLC they are planning, it has some replay value to it.
Day one purchase for me I have been looking forward to this game for quite a while, and early reviews are very positive. But I would agree that its not for everyone although kinda surprised Hanso hated it, I on the other hand I enjoy the change of pace I have played more shooters and RPG's and sandbox games to last a life time. Finally something thats not like anything else.
Oh and AvP is garbage total waste of money I am kicking myself for wow items buying that $70 circle of useless plastic. I wrote a review but I guess Mania doesn't want reviews from us Maniacs unless they have written one first, either that or I can't find the submit review button, I am thinking the former.
Hudson, I shouldn't have said I hate it cause I don't. I won't be talking shit about the game which I would if I did hate it for realz. I should've said, I didn't like it and I was bored with it. I prefer to do more playing than watching cut scenes when I sit down to play is all and unfortunately Heavy Rain doesn't provide that for me. But like I said, I like the fact the developers went for something different.
On a gaming related subject, I would like to add that I bought Dante's Inferno and it's a complete God of War rip off and not as good. I recommend that if anyone likes God of War to give this game a try but not to buy it. It's not worth $60. The campaign is very short, like 6-7 hrs long and it doesn't have any multiplayer. Better to rent it if you can or wait for a big price drop on it.
Hate is such a strong word ;)
I felt that way about Dante's Inferno's demo, in fact I am shocked at how blatantly it rips off GOW, it doesen't even try to hide it. I may try it down the road but I am still playing Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain next week then the one two punch of FFXIII and GOW3 its like 2nd Christmas.
Oh and if anyone cares early impressions of FFXIII for 360 are positive but the PS3 version is superior looking mostly better lighting and textures, the CG sceens are much more compressed on the 360 and if you have both systems PS3 is they way to go. But the 360 version is still quite impressive for a port.
I think I am the only gamer on the face of the earth that has not played God Of War. Neither the first nor the second. Crazy right? I've heard nothing but great things about the game but have yet to play it. I think when God Of War 3 is released I'll pick up that plus the GOW Collection that was released some months back. I almost had my fiance' pick it up for me for Valentine's Day, but opted to get Modern Warfare 2. I'm usually not into 1st person shooters, but gotta admit MW2 kicks ass! Once I get used to playing a 1PS, I'll check out MAG. Heard that was a good pickup also.
